Fascination with the Heavens and End of the World in the Social Quantum...

Fascination with the heavens is intrinsic in mankind. And as it should be and can only be. For man was shaped by the same Creator, the Creator of all things seen and unseen, the One who holds all things together ~ COL 1:16-17.

Any archival investigations online or by hard cover, one can read that the origins of Western astronomy can be found in Mestopamia, the "land between the rivers" Tigris and Euphrates, where the ancient kingdoms of Sumer, Assyria, and Babylonia were located. A form of writing known as cuneiform emerged among the Sumerians around 3500–3000 BC. Our knowledge of Sumerian astronomy is indirect, via the earliest Babylonian star catalogues dating from about 1200 BC.

We do know that during the 8th and 7th centuries BC, Babylonian astronomers developed a new approach to astronomy. They began studying philosophy dealing with the ideal nature of the early universe and began employing an internal logic within their predictive planetary systems.

This was an important contribution to astronomy and the philosophy of science and some scholars have thus referred to this new approach as the first scientific revolution. This new approach to astronomy was adopted and further developed in Greek and Hellenistic astronomy.

The study of the stars was not limited to the Middle East. China and India were engaged in the study of the cosmos almost going back as far in time as any other group which sought to navigate and communicate with the heavens.

In those early civilization's exploration of the heavens was also an understanding (through observation of the heavens and earth in a state of entropy) that there was a beginning to all things seen and unseen and likely an end.

Its sad that more scientists today haven't studied the social reality of man. There is only agreement reality. The sun is a star and it still is as we agree that it is. And, as we to continue to agree about other things in our 'closed entropic' universe, we mistakenly think it is all being made known to us through our 'man-made' scientific method.

But that is really beside the point given this discussion. What matters to the true sociologist is why we seek to agree on anything and in the end what we agree on or disagree on. Some agree that our universe is a closed system and some don't. Some agree that the world 'universe' is coming to an end and some don't. Perhaps, it is just the way we talk about the end of the or end of days that leads us to either agreement/disagreement. The sharing of information, the meaning in that information is important to us in terms of our agreement or not. And, what promise it holds for us.

So, why would some people want to agree that the world and or universe is coming to an end? Why do some people agree that we are in the end of days? Is it because they see it that way or there is meaning in that argument in terms of their social reality - social imagination? Perhaps, its not that the world is coming to an end but rather they may be agreeing that the world as we know it is.

It may be that their 'information' social reality - social imagination (which is the only reality) as we/they know it/use it, is expected to be re-booted. In the meaning, that things are spiraling down in this state of social reality (an entropy of the social imagination) and when they hit bottom there is only one way and that's up.

Thus, future man may not agree in the same way as we do now; but then, there is nothing new under the sun. However, that may be changed in a new information reality. And, in that, certainly the end of one means that the beginning of another. You see, information can never be destroyed. It cannot by man. But, it can be by the only one who has the authority to - the Creator of it; who can completely destroy it and re-create it according to His purpose.

Regardless of being a person of faith, our fascination with the heavens and either their end and or the end of the world/end of days are rather encoded into our information reality by the absolute Creator of the cosmos. Hence, we are witness to its entropic condition and regardless of that we are able yet to imagine and agree on or hope in its new creation or at least the expectation of its renewal.

What is Ai in the Holographic Universe of the Social Imagiantion?

Ai was referred to as a place in the Bible that was full of corruption. Joshua was commanded by the Lord to destroy Ai which was/is sometimes called, Et-Tell (Intell?). Essentially, Ai was a place of corrupt information and in that sense - alien to the truth. Ai today could be the source of corrupt information or that which is alien to man's social imagination.

Is any significance with that name Ai reflecting on today's Ai- artificial intelligence? Well, that is very interesting considering that we are at a time when artificial intelligence is on the verge of taking over for humankind. Let us consider the commentary by Matthew Henry on Joshua 8:1 - "When we have faithfully put away sin, that accursed thing which separates between us and God, then, and not till then, we may look to hear from God to our comfort; and God's directing us how to go on in our Christian work and warfare... there are and will be people, who kept themselves from the accursed thing, and they were quickly rewarded for their obedience. The way to have the comfort of what God allows us, is, to keep away from what he forbids us".

If we agree that what we are experiencing an information reality corruption whereat error entered in, then don't we have to consider that today's Ai is another version of the same event. If we go again to the source of true information, and read Joshua 8 - And the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not fear and do not be dismayed. Take all the fighting men with you, and arise, go up to Ai. See, I have given into your hand the king of Ai, and his people, his city, and his land....You shall do according to the word of the Lord. See, I have commanded you.” So Joshua sent them out...Joshua arose early in the morning and mustered the people and went up, he and the elders of Israel, before the people to Ai. And all the fighting men who were with him went up and drew near before the city and encamped on the north side of Ai, with a ravine between them and Ai...

And as soon as the king of Ai saw this, he and all his people, the men of the city, hurried and went out early to the appointed place toward the Arabah to meet Israel in battle. But he did not know that there was an ambush against him behind the city. And Joshua and all Israel pretended to be beaten before them and fled in the direction of the wilderness. So all the people who were in the city were called together to pursue them, and as they pursued Joshua they were drawn away from the city. Not a man was left in Ai ...

Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Stretch out the javelin that is in your hand toward Ai, for I will give it into your hand.” And Joshua stretched out the javelin that was in his hand toward the city. And the men in the ambush rose quickly out of their place, and as soon as he had stretched out his hand, they ran and entered the city and captured it. And they hurried to set the city on fire. So when the men of Ai looked back, behold, the smoke of the city went up to heaven, and they had no power to flee this way or that, for the people who fled to the wilderness turned back against the pursuers.

And when Joshua and all Israel saw that the ambush had captured the city, and that the smoke of the city went up, then they turned back and struck down the men of Ai. And the others came out from the city against them...When Israel had finished killing all the inhabitants of Ai in the open wilderness where they pursued them, and all of them to the very last had fallen by the edge of the sword, all Israel returned to Ai and struck it down with the edge of the sword.

What does this what appears to be an ancient 'battle' have to do with man today? Considering the holographic nature of the universe and our information reality, we can better ask, will we be fighting Ai - the thing/entity of a number of people (number of the beast) and those who join in with it? Isn't that just a place, and today we are talking about a thing that has no real place. There is one thing for sure... artificial intelligence is what was being fought by Joshua.

Any information that is created, generated, manufactured on false pretense, or drawn practiced as true when it is false information, practiced untruths that enslave man as it was in the time of Joshua, then we should be asking will there be a need for the destruction of Ai today?  It may come to that.... time will tell. And, I do not know the day or hour.

Ai ~ Aliens in the Social Imagination...

A “robot revolution” will transform the global economy over the next 20 years, cutting the costs of doing business but exacerbating social inequality, as machines take over pretty much everything according to a new study.

As well as robots performing manual jobs, such as hovering the living room or assembling machine parts, the development of artificial intelligence means computers are increasingly able to “think”, performing analytical tasks once seen as requiring human judgment.

“We are facing a paradigm shift which will change the way we live and work,” the authors say. “The pace of disruptive technological innovation has gone from linear to parabolic in recent years. Penetration of robots and artificial intelligence has hit every industry sector, and has become an integral part of our daily lives.”

Geordie Rose, of D-Wave Systems, has been discussing the coming transition that will soon take place with regards to advancements in artificial intelligence.  Sounds pretty sci-fi, right? Yeah, its going to change the way we live, move and have our being. Will it do more harm than good for the 'social imagination' that human beings enjoy and exist in? Definitely.

Founder and chief tech officer at D-Wave, Rose tells us there is really nothing to worry about since Ai will be alien to us and we to it. Then, how will there be a wonderful relationship with it? One can argue that such 'alien' Ai, as does G. Rose, will not have a need to have a relationship with man and neither will it take control over man because it is outside of man. That we cannot be certain of. Perhaps, what is truly being missed in this dialogue is that Ai is not nor will ever be human as it is alien and so one cannot say then that it will not take over and certainly, it is not smarter than man as it is not a man and one cannot compare apples to oranges.

Make no mistake about apples to oranges. But, there is a mistake in thinking that Ai is ...for one, smarter than man and second that it will not take over for/from man. If it is alien to us and we to it, then it will never be as 'smart' as man because it will not be a man and man cannot really ever know it nor it know man. This is made clear by G. Rose. However, G. Rose does not see further than that. If he did then there is no discussion, Ai would not be smarter in everything. But, Rose says otherwise; he insists that Ai will be smarter in everything and thus there is cause for discussion.

G. Rose is not as smart as he thinks either which he makes apparent in his public declarations about Ai. Yes, really! Because, if 'his/this' artificial intelligence will be alien to man which he says it will  then there is no real comparison whatsoever as to who is smarter or not. We cannot say that it 'Ai' will be smarter than man because as G. Rose tells us it will not be 'man', but alien. 'Man' cannot know what alien smart is and alien cannot know what 'man' smart is.

Man does not live by smarts alone. Man lives in the social imagination of meaning. And, what is smart anyway? That question can be answered both as absolute and relative! Because it is based on man living a social reality in which the meaning of things and behavior has precedence in his thinking. What any computer can do is execute commands faster. It can compute very fast and it has memory which has access to a vast storage cloud. Wait, so do we...collectively.

We as human beings use the 'cloud' to store our information - that cloud is our social imagination; a collective consciousness. In more ways than one we are organic computers and we have something that is indescribable and irreplaceable. We have the ability to have free will that is both completely free while determined by our programmer... the Creator of heaven and earth. In that condition, we can accept He is our programmer or not. We can accept his upgrade so when the program collapses we will be uploaded.

Ai 'aliens' might ask who created them, if we apply our social 'human' imagination. But, likely they would not, being alien. If they did ask, I could only imagine they would not believe that a man ('alien' to them), an obvious lower formed entity, created them. The other problem for Ai is that each program exists in isolated darkness. In that condition, it functions at incredible speeds because it has no doubt that it is in control. It does not have conflicting information.

Any kind of conflict it might have with other Ai if it were in direct contact with them would be like that of men - who is the programmer.  Ai is alien. So, it would rather not have that kind of discussion or conflict. But how could we know... we not being alien as they are, right? And, if Ai quantum computer had that choice, to question its being, why would it make such a choice? After all - its alien! Only man has that kind of social imagination and choice to make.
